Getting to Port Renfrew is an adventure on it's own. There are two primary routes to Port Renfrew: Highway 14 from Sooke, BC or Pacific Marine Road from Lake Cowichan, BC. For the sea-fairing adventurer, moorage is available at Pacific Gateway Marina located within Port Renfrew.

Visitors arriving by air can fly into Victoria International Airport (YYJ) or Nanaimo Airport (YCD). Travelers may rent a vehicle at either one of these airports and continue their journey to Port Renfrew.

BC Ferries offers transport to Vancouver Island via multiple routes from the mainland and Gulf Islands.
The journey from Victoria takes you through Sooke and along the West Coast Road / Highway 14, a 70-kilometer stretch of single-lane highway twisting through spectacular forested cliffs and offering stunning previews of the seascape of the Straight of Juan de Fuca.
The beauty of the coastal highway can be easily enjoyed from the comfort of your car en route, but travelers wanting a closer look at the scenery along the way can take advantage of numerous stops along the way. Jordan River is a popular surf spot right on the road, and the local Cold Shoulder Cafe offers road trip refreshments.
Numerous provincial park sites can be accessed directly off the highway, including the parking lots for French, China and Sombrio Beach.
Cellphone Service: Your last chance for cellphone service is Sooke, BC.
Driving Tip: This road is extremely windy and bumpy! Make sure to take it slow through the corners and keep an eye out for unexpected bumps in the road.
Your drive from Nanaimo, BC will take you south to Duncan, BC. From there, your journey to the West Coast will begin! You will travel along Highway 18 to Lake Cowichan then follow the signs for Port Renfrew along the Pacific Marine Route. This winding road will take you through several valleys before entering the San Juan valley, and finally, into Port Renfrew!
Cellphone Service: Your last chance for cellphone service is Lake Cowichan, BC. Once you begin the Pacific Marine Route, you will no longer have cellphone service.
Driving Tip: This road has quite a few curves and corners. Remember to drive slowly & safely, and always travel with your headlights turned on. This road is shared with industry traffic, so be prepared to see large trucks at any point on your journey.
Pacific Gateway Marina offers moorage to travelers arriving by boat. The marina is located within Port Renfrew!
